Dear Families,

I am writing to inform you that our students’ Winter Break has been extended.  All students—RECC through grade five—will return to school on Thursday, January 4, 2018. 

We are very excited to inform you that great progress has been made with Waverly’s current phase of construction.  Our kindergarten, first grade, and second grade teams are on schedule to occupy their newly renovated classrooms in January. 

Our fourth and fifth grade teams will then move to the new addition as construction begins in their current classrooms.  Such beautiful upgrades are being made as our school transforms into a vibrant learning environment.

As you can imagine, much work needs to be done to pack and unpack classrooms.  We have received strong support from our Interim Superintendent, Dr. Michael Martirano, as we plan for these moves.  In the coming days, teachers will be provided classroom coverage for portions of their day in order to pack materials being moved to their new locations. 

Upon return from the Winter Break, teachers will be re-organizing their classrooms.   In order to prepare for our students’ return, Waverly has been granted a waiver from the Maryland State Department of Education, extending our students’ winter break two days.  We have just received notification of this approval and are sharing this information immediately in consideration of your need to make plans for these two days.
