We are extremely excited to announce that Dr. Laura Moore has been named the Howard County Public School System’s 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year! Dr. Moore will represent Howard County as the Maryland State Department of Education's Teacher of the Year Nominee!
Dr. Moore, a second grade teacher, creates a culturally responsive learning environment of inclusivity and collaboration by engaging students, staff, and families as valuable educational partners. She is known as a strong instructional leader, and caring individual by all who have the pleasure of interacting with her. As a National Board Certified teacher, she has earned the highest certification awarded in the field for educators. Dr. Moore believes in the potential of her students and works diligently to help each child reach educational goals. During her distinguished career within the Howard County Public School System, Laura Moore has proudly served as a classroom teacher, math committee leader, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Liaison. Additionally, she serves as an Adjunct Professor at Bowie State University teaching Elementary Mathematics to aspiring teachers across the state of Maryland.
Dr. Moore holds a B.A. in Latin and Political Science from The University of Richmond, a M.A. in Elementary Education from Johns Hopkins University, and a Doctor of Education in Mind, Brain, and Teaching from Johns Hopkins University.
